Does it seem like you can't understand why someone in your family has withdrawn and stopped trying to communicate with you?

Even the best families go through hard times. The hopes and dreams you started this family with have turned into communication breakdowns or boundary struggles. Maybe something happened that you can't seem to get past, or you’re all struggling with something happening right now.

    LGBTQ Families

Dealing with the everyday stressors of family life is hard enough, but doing that in a marginalized household can compound the problems. We know how hard it can be to find safe, affirming therapists that understand the issues queer families face. We have the training and real-life experience that guides our work with our clients. Let us help you identify and work through the most significant challenges to your family system and help you create the home life you deserve.

    Families with Coming Out Stress

Maybe you have a child or spouse in the coming out or transitioning process. Maybe you are excited by this and want to learn more, as a family, to provide support and advocate with extended family. Maybe this isn’t easy, and your family needs help walking through the grief, pain, and tension that has built up. Whatever your specific scenario is, we are here to help you every step of the way.

We will start by getting to know you, your family members, and your relationships. Knowing each part of the relationship system helps us identify areas contributing to the conflicts we are experiencing. We'll use your goals, combined with our assessment, and we will create a plan for healing your family relationships. We will teach you to work through a conflict without blowing up or storming out. With your therapist's support, you'll develop skills to talk through the places that keep you stuck, learn the best way to communicate your thoughts, feelings, and needs, and listen so everyone feels understood. You'll enjoy more of your time together while your conflicts become less intense and happen less often. Finally, you'll craft a new path forward as you learn to connect in new ways.

You don't have to keep fighting. A better relationship with your family is possible.
