Letters of Recommendation
We are excited for you.
Affirming from the start
This is not a test of your identity.
Seeking gender-affirming surgery can bring excitement, relief, anticipation, and plenty of logistical stress. Some members of our own team have been through these surgeries, so we understand both the joy and the angst that can come with the process.
Our role is to help you feel prepared, respected, and celebrated while creating a thorough letter that meets the requirements of your surgeon or surgical practice.
Simple pricing
Two appointments. $35 each.
The surgery-letter process includes two appointments at $35 per session, for a total cost of $70.
Your letter will be written by Taylor Fitzgerald, Counselor-in-Training, under the supervision of Irene Paul, LPC, Clinical Director. Irene’s supervisory signature will be included on the completed letter.
What to Expect
The two-session process.
Before your appointment
Complete the intake form.
You will complete a form with information about your gender journey, the surgery you are pursuing, and your surgeon or surgical office.
The form will also include a Release of Information so we can send the completed letter directly to your surgeon when appropriate. If you are still shopping around for surgeons, we can provide the letter directly to you instead.
Session One
Tell us about you and your goals.
Taylor will meet with you for a detailed interview so the letter can accurately reflect your identity, history, goals, support system, and readiness for surgery.
Together, you will review the areas generally required for a gender-affirming surgery letter under the WPATH Standards of Care, Version 8, along with any specific requirements provided by your surgeon.
Between sessions
Taylor drafts your letter.
Taylor will use the information from your form and interview to prepare a detailed, individualized letter. The goal is a letter that is clinically complete without reducing your experience to a checklist.
Session Two
Review it together.
During your second appointment, you and Taylor will review the drafted letter together. You will have the opportunity to clarify details, correct information, and discuss any changes that should be made.
Final edits will be completed after this appointment. Irene Paul, LPC, Clinical Director, will provide the supervising clinician signature.
Your Completed Letter
Ready for the next step.
Once finalized and signed, your letter will be uploaded securely to your Rebel Heart Therapy Client Portal.
When we have a valid Release of Information and confirmed surgeon contact information, we can also fax the letter directly to the surgeon or surgical office.
